South Bay Teacher Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexually Assaulting Minor

SAN JOSÉ, CA — A South Bay teacher was arrested last week in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving a victim who is a minor, San José police said in a news release.

Te Bing Jung, 31 of San José, was arrested Jan. 10 on suspicion of sexual assault of a minor, police said.

He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and subsequently released and via the Supervised Own Recognizance Release Program, police said.

Officers on Jan. 9 responded to a San José to investigate the case, police said.

After the victim’s mother described inappropriate messages she found on her 17-year-old daughter’s phone from a former teacher, officers determined that a sexual assault of a minor had occurred involving Jung, a Yerba Buena High School English teacher, police said.

The assault occurred when the victim attended Silver Creek High School, where Jung was a teacher at the time.

The SJPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Detectives assisted with the investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Jung.

The suspect was located and arrested at his residence in San José.

Detectives believe there could be additional victims due to the suspect’s position as a person of trust at the school.
