PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
An overview of the U.S. Investigations and Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Cyber
Crimes Center, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responsibilities and
mission, focusing on current Child Exploitation Unit initiatives. This
presentation will highlight current investigations, child sex tourism and
the National Child Victim Identification System (NCVIS). The NCVIS is a
nationwide system, housed at ICE, used to identify images of known victims
and as an analytical tool to determine trends in the trade of child
pornography.
PRESENTER BIO
Ms. Alexis Slebodnick is a Senior Intelligence Analyst with the ICE Cyber
Crime Center, Child Exploitation Unit (CEU). She is the Program Manager for
Operation Peer Pursuit, an ICE peer-to-peer initiative and has been involved
in the development of the NCVIS since its inception. As the senior analyst
in the CEU, Ms. Slebodnick has been an integral part of major investigations
such as Operation Blue Orchid, a joint investigation with the Moscow City
Police into the international distribution of child pornography videos
facilitated by the Internet. She is a requested speaker and routinely
teaches Internet investigations courses at the Federal Law Enforcement
Training Center.
Ms. Slebodnick has been an intelligence analyst for twenty years, working
previously at the FBI and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
In March 2004, a chapter was written about her fighting child pornography on
the Internet the book “Cool Careers for Girls in Cybersecurity and National
Safety”. She received her B.S. in Business from Radford University and her
M.A. in International Transactions form George Mason University.
Ms. Slebodnick is a member of the International Association of Law
Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA) and a lifetime member of the
Society of Certified Criminal Analysts (SCCA).
