2419: Peer-to-Peer Using Hash Values
Thursday, June
24, 2004
10:00am – 11:30am
Presenter: Special Agent Waters
PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
This course presents the techniques used for Operation Peerless. This course
will highlight the software used to investigate the use of the FastTrack
network in the distribution of child pornography. (Kazaa, Imesh, Grokster)
The presented software allows the investigator to
recover images of known child pornography through the use of hash values.
The software then documents the undercover operation and prepares the
referral or case materials automatically. This method resulted in the
identification of over eighty computers actively
distributing child pornography in a single day by a single Investigator.
