PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION

The characteristics of the child sexual predator will be discussed in detail. How the offender uses pornography, child pornography, and erotica to seduce potential victims. What the investigator needs to show as to offender characteristics to enhance sentencing. How investigations can be enhanced by using the offender characteristics to show premeditation on the part of the offender.

PRESENTER BIO

Officer Steve McEwan is currently assigned to the San Jose Police Department’s Criminal Intelligence, investigating Organized Crime. He has been a Police Officer for SJPD for over 10 years. He also served as a Police Officer in the United Kingdom for 7 years. Officer McEwan was assigned for 3 ˝ years to the SJPD Child Exploitation Detail where he conducted proactive and reactive investigations into Child Predators. His undercover cases have involved the investigation of the distribution of child pornography, Internet Predators and international trafficking of children. He currently teaches this subject for the California POST and has testified as an Expert on the subject of Child Exploitation in State and Federal Courts.
