SAN JOSE — The twin brother of a former Willow Glen Middle School physical education teacher and track coach charged last week with allegedly possessing child pornography has been arrested on the same charge in an unrelated case, according to police.
Clinton Pappadakis, a long-time track coach at Oak Grove High School, was booked into Santa Clara County jail on Tuesday.
In a news release Thursday, police said Pappadakis, 47, was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for “suspicious activity” last September. The Alexandria, Virginia-based nonprofit organization provided the information to the Silicon Valley Crimes Against Children Task Force, which opened an investigation.
Detectives served a search warrant at Pappadakis’ home in San Jose on Tuesday. Child pornography allegedly was found on “multiple devices” belonging to him, according to police.
East Side Union High School Superintendent Chris D. Funk said Pappadakis was employed as an off-campus coach for the past 20 years. He has been released from his coaching duties.
“We are disappointed to learn of these allegations as we expect our employees to be professional and ethical in their interactions with students, other employees, and the community,” the district said in a statement. “The district is cooperating fully with law enforcement as the judicial process moves forward.”
No students are believed to have been involved in the alleged criminal conduct, according to the statement.
Pappadakis’ twin brother, Clifford Pappadakis, also of San Jose, is accused of taking exploitative photos of female students and possessing child pornography. He surrendered to police Feb. 14 and made his first court appearance the following day to answer to charges of one count of felony child pornography possession and seven misdemeanor counts of annoying and molesting a child.
Clifford Pappadakis was released under court supervision and a protective order was issued, barring him from contacting any alleged victims. He is next scheduled to appear in court March 21 to enter a plea.
Parents identified Clifford Pappadakis’ brother as a “person of interest” in his case, but an investigation did not link Clinton Pappadakis to any misconduct at the time, according to court records.
